Description
The cashew nut, or cashew apple, is the nut of an Amazonian tree: the cashew tree. Containing a smooth, light-colored, crescent-shaped seed, it develops at the end of edible false fruits called cashew apples. The cashew-apple structure resembles an "upside-down heart," hence its name (ana- = upside-down, -carde = heart). In the 16th century, the cashew tree was first exported by the Portuguese to their colonies in Africa and India. Cashew Parmesan is the Italian version of the cashew nut... Delicious, original, and addictive, it will be a sensation at your next cocktail party!
